Executive Assistant

Organization Overview: The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that is organized to provide research, technical assistance, and training to municipal, state, and regional economic and workforce development agencies on innovative approaches to addressing state growth and development challenges. We manage four membership networks that have individual missions that align with our long-term goals—the Council for Community and Economic Research, Labor Market Information Institute, Projections Managing Partnership, and Association of Public Data Users. We are a mission-oriented organization that focuses on helping state and regional economic development agencies enhance their programs through evidence-based decision making. We also have worked with economic development leaders in nearly every state.

 

Position Summary: The purpose of the Executive Assistant function is to serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the CEO and his senior management team. He / she will have a passion for learning and understanding the trends that affect the industries that CREC interacts with on a daily basis. The Executive Assistant better positions the CEO to effectively tackle complex issues facing the organization, its clients, and its partnerships. The Executive Assistant is dependable, a critical thinker, and a team player who handles tasks efficiently and with discretion. He / she takes an ownership role in the duties assigned and is able to successfully work independently as well as with members of the team. The candidate will be a forward-looking individual who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.

 

Responsibilities: The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness is searching for an Executive Assistant with strong interpersonal skills, and expert level written and verbal communication skills, emotional maturity and demonstrated decision-making capabilities.
The candidate must also have strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. He / she will coordinate the CEO’s outreach activities and edit and complete first drafts for written communications to external stakeholders. In this capacity, he / she will schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for senior management and staff, senior fellows, and work directly with customers. The Executive Assistant will provide membership services and administration support to CREC’s four associations, and he / she will work directly with volunteer boards / committees. The Executive Assistant will support constituents through professional communications, such as mailings, electronic communications, and phone calls and is responsible for effectively and professionally resolving issues that arise.
The role also encompasses general administrative and clerical support, such as mailing, scanning, faxing and copying, maintaining databases, preparing and modifying documents, attending meetings and recording minutes to distribute for the team. A key aspect of the Executive Assistant’s position will be to take full ownership of the organization’s prospect database, treating it as the CEO’s personal database as well as a highly valued corporate asset.
Qualifications:
  • Some college required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Strong work tenure: at least five years of experience supporting C-level executives, preferably in a nonprofit organization
  • Experience and interest in internal and external communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and social media Web platforms
  • Ambitious, self-motivated / takes initiative, can-do attitude
