Our Vision

Since our founding in 2000, CREC envisioned itself to organize to support innovative approaches to job creation and regional economic growth. In doing this, we continue to apply four key principles in approaching projects and working with our clients:

Our Principles

Enhancing Understanding:

CREC works with its clients to develop a data-driven appreciation of the region’s economy. We work with public and proprietary data sources and supplement those with “on-the-ground” surveys, focus groups, and interviews that help paint a detailed and robust picture of the area’s driving economic forces.

The information we use helps clients shape and implement effective programs that promote economic development.

Planning for the Future:

Based on a well-informed foundation, CREC works with clients as they articulate and address the economic forces that affect their regions. We then, in partnership, develop a regional vision for the next generation of citizens.

Through scenario-driven and consensus-building activities, CREC helps policymakers and researchers design a vision for the future; and we develop reasonable, measurable, and actionable steps that guide us and the client as we create a new future.

Setting a New Course:

Our different perspective allows you to gain insight into your successes and challenges.

Every region faces independently unique opportunities, dilemmas that require expertise, and a network of partners that can expedite change. We approach every project with an open mind, and our past experiences help inform our conversations and clients.

We work with our clients to develop strategies that reflect reality and help them rise above former perceptions of growth.

Empowering Leaders:

We focus on building our clients’ capacity.

Our staff meet face-to-face with policymakers, economic development practitioners, and researchers and helps them better gather and analyze data. We show clients how they can independently create effective workforce and economic development plans by guiding them and facilitating policy discussions between state and regional leaders.
