CREC leads NWPA-WIB Strategy Retreat in Erie, Pennsylvania
May 1, 2015Ron Kelly, joined by John Metcalf of Workforce Systems Associates, led the Northwest Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board in a strategy retreat to create goals and actionable steps for upcoming operations in Erie, Pennsylvania. Ron and John also provided an overview of policy changes inherent with the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.
The retreat included nearly 50 participants; joining the WIB board members in the retreat were regional chief elected officials and representatives from private industry, workforce services providers, universities, and training providers.
The Workforce Investment Board is a membership consortium made up of business executives, community leaders and elected officials appointed by the Board of Commissioners and the Chief Local Elected Officials (CLEOs). This organization acts as both the planning council for the region on areas of workforce development and the Board of Directors for the local workforce investment area. The main duties of the NWPA WIB are outlined in the agreement of work between the WIB, CLEOs and operate under Roberts Rules of Order.
