Project Profile
ARC Outdoor Recreation and Tourism
CREC is partnering with SE Group and the Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement to deliver a comprehensive evaluation of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s outdoor recreation and tourism grant portfolio. The research effort will feature a mixed methods evaluation. Qualitative grantee and beneficiary interviews serve to identify exploratory items, leading to a quantitative survey instrument for all grantees to assess the generalizability of the qualitative findings to the grantee population. Analysis of the qualitative interview data, quantitative survey data, and grantee output data will provide a greater understanding of how different factors influence outcomes. Finally, the case studies will explore key items stemming from both data collection methods and assess the extent to which minoritized populations are served through these grants.
