Destination Erie Regional Planning Initiative

CREC assisted the leaders of the ‘Destination Erie’ initiative to create a comprehensive regional development plan. The plan addressed issues such as economic development, job creation, transportation and housing. CREC’s role is in related primarily to the economic development aspects of the plan. As a result, CREC—in partnership with the Economic Research Institute of Erie—produced a report that identified many of the key socio-economic challenges and opportunities facing the Erie region. Using this report as a foundation, CREC worked with regional stakeholders to develop an economic develop strategy that addresses many of these issues. This strategy was later incorporated into broader regional plan that integrated economic development, environmental, infrastructure, and public health considerations to address area needs.
