The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization founded to provide policy-makers from around the world with the information and technical assistance they need to formulate and execute innovative, regional, job-creating economic strategies.

Alec Romero joined the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness team in May 2022 as an intern and is now a full-time Research Assistant. At CREC, Alec currently supports the National Credential Count for Credential Engine, the Alabama Success Plus Attainment Goal Progress Report for the State of Alabama, the Cost of Living Index, and LMI Institute and Non-Degree Credentials Research Network newsletters.

Alec recently graduated from the University of Redlands with a B.S. in Economics and Decision Making where he completed his senior honors thesis entitled Voting in Virtual Worlds: Do Item Prices Matter in Old School RuneScape Voting? He is also an alumnus of the AEA Summer Program, a prestigious program that enables students to develop and solidify technical skills in preparation for a Ph.D. in Economics.
