Q3 of Cost of Living Index Report Shows Most- and Least-Expensive Places in U.S.

November 5, 2015

The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) published its third quarter Cost of Living Index (COLI) report for 2015 in late October and shows that McAllen, Texas, is the least expensive metro in the U.S. during that period. New York City remains the most-expensive metro.

C2ER, COLI’s publisher, is one of three associations managed by the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness. The quarterly data is based on more than 90,000 prices covering 60 different items. Each quarter, C2ER sends out lists of the top ten most and least expensive communities in the U.S. These findings are based on the data submitted to C2ER and are not meant to imply anything in the way of absolute values.

If you are interested in participating or would like additional information on the Cost of Living Index or other COLI-related products such as the COLI Web Calculator and the COLI Historical Index, please contact Jennie Allison at jallison@crec.net.
