The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization founded to provide policy-makers from around the world with the information and technical assistance they need to formulate and execute innovative, regional, job-creating economic strategies.

Colleen Dougherty is a Research Assistant with CREC. Ms. Dougherty joined the CREC team in June 2022. At CREC, Ms. Dougherty’s primary contributions are split between the workforce and economic development teams. Her current projects include Building Equitable Pathways Communities of Practice (BEP-CoP), the State Economic Development Executives (SEDE) network, Program Support for Treasury’s SSBCI Initiative, and the New York State Innovation Cluster project.

Ms. Dougherty is a recent graduate of Georgetown University with an M.A. in German and European Studies with a focus on post-industrial regions and economic transformations across the transatlantic space. During her master’s degree, she interned at Brookings Metro and Brookings Foreign Policy programs and was a graduate research assistant in both the Georgetown Urban Planning Program and the Georgetown BMW Center. She also holds a B.A. in Philosophy from John Carroll University with minors in political science and German and originally hails from Erie, Pennsylvania.
