Senior Research Associate

Date January 7, 2016
Organization Overview: The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that is organized to provide research, technical assistance, and training to municipal, state, and regional economic and workforce development agencies on innovative approaches to addressing state growth and development challenges. We manage four membership networks that have individual missions that align with our long-term goals—the Council for Community and Economic Research, Labor Market Information Institute, Projections Managing Partnership, and Association of Public Data Users. We are a mission-oriented organization that focuses on helping state and regional economic development agencies enhance their programs through evidence-based decision making. We also have worked with economic development leaders in nearly every state.

Position Summary: The Senior Research Associate will apply critical thinking and an entrepreneurial approach when undertaking new and existing CREC projects. The candidate will lead and mentor CREC project managers, serving as coach and supervisor to a young team of talented professionals assigned responsibility for moving forward multiple economic and workforce development-related research, technical assistance, and planning projects. By growing the business and developing staff, the Senior Research Associate will position himself / herself as a dependable leader with attention to detail.

Responsibilities: The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness is searching for a Senior Research Associate with a strong regional economic research and planning background. The candidate will be expected to assume a leadership role in design research and technical assistance activities, helping to attract client-driven projects in one or more of CREC’s five lines of business: (1) regional economic and workforce research, (2) regional economic and workforce development policy analysis, (3) leadership development and professional training for economic and workforce development practitioners, (4) regional planning facilitation and technical assistance, and/or (5) economic and workforce development association management.
